Jaisalmer Fort
This fort was built by the Bhati Rajput ruler Rao Jaisal in 12th century. This fort is also known as the ‘Golden Fort of Rajasthan’ & is among the largest forts of the world. The sandstone mixed with golden & yellow offers a splendid look hence justifying the name ‘Sonar Quila’.This fort is particularly famous for its historical importance, architecture & photography. A rupee 30 is charged as entry fees & it remains open all seven days from 9am to 5pm.
Camel Safari
It is one of the best ways to explore the sand dunes & its beauty. A bumpy ride on camel is exciting as it provides views & sights of local culture during the day & canopy of stars during the night. This camel safari is arranged by various tour & travel agency. This safari can vary from a single day to a month where the needs of the tourist are taken care off.
Sam Sand Dunes
This is open all day & there is no entry fee for it. Sam provides beautiful view of sand dunes & layers upon layers of sand. The entire are turn into a cultural hotspot during the month of February & March. Activities such as folk dances, camel race and other cultural activities are performed here.
Gadisar Lake
This is another major tourist attraction which is located in outskirts of main town. This was constructed as a water conservation tank in 14th century by Raja Rawal Jaisal and later reconstructed by Maharawal Garsi in the year 1367 AD. The lake encircles several shrines, temple & chattris around the bank. The most popular temple is Krishna temple. Another interesting things to do here is boat riding, Shikara and this also open all day.
Salim Singh Ki Haveli
It is a distinct & eye catching architecture from 17th century. The roof of the structure is built in the shape of the peacock while the front structure is like a ship stern. It has 38 balconkies each with distinct form of architecture. It remains open from 8 am to 5pm in the evening.
Jain Temples
These temples dated back to 12th – 15th century and are built inside the Jaisalmer fort. It uses yellow sandstone & is a fine example of Dilwara style of architecture. These temples are important for pilgrimages as well as for archeology because of its architectural style. These temples are dedicated to various Jain Trithankars and there are various carved on the wall of the temple. These temples are open all days for the visitors from 7 am to 12 noon.
The Thar Heritage Museum
Located in the main market of the city it was founded by local historian and folklorist LN Khatri. This private museum has artifacts, from turbans, musical instruments, fossils and kitchen equipment to displays on birth, marriage, and death and opium customs.The sea fossil in the museum tells how eventually the sea became the Thar Desert. The museum also exhibits ancient coins,manuscripts, photographs, weapons and musical instruments.This museum remains open daily from 9 am to 6pm. Puppet show is also hosted in the museum during evening.

Patwon Ki Haveli
the Patwon Ji ki Haveli is one of the largest haveli and an interesting piece of architecture. This is not a single haveli but a cluster of 5 Haveli constructed in the year 1805 by Guman Chand Patwa. He constructed this for his 5 sons. The main attractions of this haveli are its miniature painting and the balconies. The haveli remains open every day from 8am to 5pm.
